A Light in Dark Places offers hope and community.

A Light in Dark Places (ALIDP) breaks down stigma surrounding the topic of suicide by using the performing arts to encourage healthy discussion, create community and offer hope to those affected.

In addition to our annual two-weekend play series performed in Los Angeles, we will be producing this series in Dallas for our second-consecutive year this April. We are also looking to launch monthly meet-up groups and bring back our one-night events to provide people further opportunity to connect.

With these programs, ALIDP provides opportunities to connect and educate through the transformative power of art, with an emphasis on safe messaging. Each event includes a representative from organizations such as the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and/or a mental health professional to provide valuable information and resources.

Testimonials:

"A Light in Dark Places isn't interested in having all the answers, but in asking the question: How can we listen and love one another better?"

"A Light in Dark Places has been exactly that for me, especially as suicide touched my life at an early age. As a writer, I've never felt very comfortable exploring it in my creative writing until I wrote for their festival. Watching my and the other plays was an amazing combination of healing and release but also entertainment and joy. I don't know of another organization that has this kind of mission and talent to put it all together. I'm so grateful to Kelly O'Malley and the entire team as I am now part of this community."

"It was one of the most meaningful experiences I've had. It was such an honor."
"The plays made me feel sympathetic to what others may be feeling and going through. I expected to be a little depressed afterwards, but I wasn't at all. It was more about understanding. I learned some new ways to talk about suicide, and that this is an issue that's important for all age groups."
